Home of the Brave

I love the spirit of this video. It was captured by Richard Sullivan's father 65 years ago. His Dad shot this film along Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki capturing spontaneous celebrations that broke out upon first hearing news of the Japanese surrender. It is shot on Kodachrome 16mm film. I love all of the celebrations it captures. Kris and I watched Pearl Harbor the other day and I have been having weird dreams about this era lately. This video reminds me of what I have been hazily seeing in my strange dreams. Can't you feel the excitement? The pride? God Bless American troops!
