Poo Happens
So my branch is located in one of the first shopping centers in Murfreesboro. Now it is one of the most neglected areas in Murfreesboro. We are not leaving the location anytime soon, but fingers crossed it will be in the next year or so. Too many weird occurrences have been happening in the past month around our branch. We have had bums sleeping near the store, panhandlers walking in off the streets, strange men walking out of dark stores with black bags of who knows what. However, the weirdest and most disturbing event happened yesterday afternoon. My boss goes outside to smoke and sees some clothing by the brick bench/flower beds. Not just any clothing - men's underwear. Not just men's underwear, men's underwear with poo sitting in the underwear. I will sum this part up for you all - there was a lone sock, men's underwear and a lot of fecal matter. Also, it has been very hot so I will leave the rest to your imagination.
My boss was voted the one to remove the poo. It was a very funny ordeal. It involved a copy box, a trash bag, and some tape. It was safely removed to the trash bin located to the front of our building, where I am sure some bum will find it and think "Gee, I wonder what is in the taped box?" So today, let's just say remnants are still outside of our side door. The other stores near us have selected my boss to handle the matter so to speak. So he comes up with the idea of pouring kitty litter on the spot and letting it set in the sun. Then, he will spray down the walk way. Great in theory, but nope it was still there.
All day we could smell the fresh aroma of poo. We would get so tickled over describing what were experiencing that I could hardly answer the phone without laughing. It got worst as people went in and out of the door. There was a vortex of stink to put it nicely. So at 5:30 pm, when were closing, my unit partner breaks out a can of Lysol and sprays the room. My boss and I dart him a dumbfounded look. We ask him about the Lysol can and why did he have it stashed away. He has had it ALL day in his file cabinet while we are sitting there suffering from the bum poo smell. So needless to say it was an interesting day filled with poo and laughter. It got me back laughing again, instead of being frustrated. Also, it reminded of me of one of my favorite children's books. It is called "Everyone Poops." Seriously, a must read for every child and adult about equality. If you are having a stinking bad day, just think tomorrow there may be a pile of poo to brighten your day. Do you smell something?

okay so i am totally used to the bums walking in off the street, but the pooing by the office and leaving their soiled skivies behind is a new one. Although we did have a guy who used to come puke in front of our office every tuesday at around 4:30.
